In Memorium - Howard Beaumont

Dear colleagues,

Sad news has arrived. Laurie Dettman, Chief Port Health Officer of Hull and Goole PHA advises that his colleague Howard Beaumont passed away on Monday 1^st February 2010.

Howard will be widely remembered as a true gentleman to whom people warmed wherever he went.

I will remember him from my early involvement with APHA as someone who welcomed newcomers and made them feel at ease. I also remember that he could be feisty in argument.

Laurie tells me that Howard was a natural and talented sportsman who regularly thrashed him at squash and having showed promise at trials with Manchester United Football Club, gave it all up for a career in Environmental Health!

Laurie has received many messages from members and friends which he will share with Howard's wife and will keep us informed of arrangements for Howard.
